MUMBAI: The Mumbai International Film Festival 2024 honored legendary actress Shabana Azmi with the Excellence in Cinema Award, a fitting tribute as she celebrates 50 years in the industry. The award was bestowed by Waheeda Rehman, marking a career that has transformed the landscape of Indian film. While delivering the key note, interm director of Mami said “Beginning with her award winning debut with Ankur in 1974. Shabana ji has enriched the fabric of Indian Cinema with some of the most memorable women characters, including Pooja in Mahesh Bhatt’s Arth, Rukmani, Radha, Kavita, Sparsh”
