MUMBAI: Jaideep Singh, who is currently seen in Iss Ishq Ka Rabb Rakha, feels that the viewers today look for characters and stories they can connect with.

He said, “The trend of bringing real-life stories and portraying them authentically is what excites me the most. Audiences today appreciate stories that are grounded in reality and feel more relatable.”

“Audiences now look for characters they can connect with on a personal level. They want to see more real-life, relatable characters rather than idealized or stereotypical portrayals,” he added.

Jaideep also stressed that he always tries to keep his authenticity intact whenever he is playing a character. “I bring a realness to my roles, which helps me connect with the character and the audience more easily. Authenticity and vulnerability are key to making a character feel genuine,” he said.

He feels that audiences today have evolved significantly and added, “It’s crucial for filmmakers and creators to bring fresh concepts and new ways of storytelling. Treating stories differently and thinking outside the box will keep the industry moving forward.”

Sharing his thoughts on the growing emphasis on diversity and inclusion in casting and storytelling, he said that it should have always been a priority. “I'm glad that times are changing and people's perspectives are becoming broader. It’s essential for storytelling to be more inclusive and representative of diverse experiences,” he added.

He also pointed out that new technology, like AI, should be used to enhance the storytelling experience rather than replace it. “While technology can create amazing effects, the essence of acting—human emotion and connection—should never be dependent solely on it,” he said.

What about the trend of adapting books into films or series? “It is challenging because viewers often compare the adaptation to the original. Not many have done it successfully, but when done right, it can be fantastic. Personally, I enjoy it when adaptations bring something new to the table,” Jaideep ended.
