The Shift to Digital Platforms Is Encouraging More Creativity and Risk-Taking: Anasua Chowdhury

MUMBAI : Waack Girls actor Anasua Chowdhury, known for her work in Dil Dosti Dance on Channel V and episodic shows such as Savdhaan India, Fear Files, and C.I.D., as well as the movie Laal Singh Chaddha, believes that OTT platforms have revolutionized storytelling by offering greater freedom and opportunities.

She said, “The shift to digital platforms is encouraging more creativity and risk-taking in storytelling compared to traditional TV or film. The audience has also become more woke nowadays, and they want to keep seeing something fresh, something unconventional.”

Anasua also highlighted how OTT platforms are helping actors gain recognition and opening doors to new opportunities. “Sometimes it’s great, sometimes it’s not for the best. Having said that, I am super grateful to my director Sooni Taraporevala and Tess from Tess Joseph Casting for giving me this opportunity and believing in me,” she said.

She added, “Such renowned individuals make me believe that real talent will find its way when it’s meant to happen.”

However, she pointed out a downside to the OTT boom. “Actors who have trained for years might not always get the opportunities that fresh talent receives based on social media followers. It’s a big problem nowadays. But we’re in an industry where you’ve got to keep trying and have lots of patience. I believe in hard work, focus, and faith. The right opportunity is bound to come to you when the time is right, as long as you keep working on your craft,” she explained.

Anasua also emphasized the balance between quantity and quality in OTT content. “There are lots of fresh stories and well-conceptualized shows available in abundance, giving us so many options to watch. As actors, we’ve got to keep watching good shows, so I think it’s great. While I value quality, a good mix of both quality and quantity isn’t bad either. At least we won’t run out of things to watch,” she concluded.
