MUMBAI: Actor Karan Tacker, who’s all set to return as intelligence officer Farooq Ali in Special Ops 2, is not just taking his character to new heights — he’s also pushing his personal limits like never before

In the high-octane universe of Special Ops, danger lurks at every corner, and agents like Farooq bleed, fight, and survive in silence. But for Karan, the biggest challenge wasn’t the guns or the action — it was something far more personal: a fear of heights.

In a candid moment during a recent interview, the actor revealed that he broke down during the shoot of Special Ops Season 1 while filming a rooftop scene.

“My biggest phobia is heights. In Special Ops 1, there’s a scene where my character stands at the edge of a 15-16 floor high building. The moment I stood up, I was so overwhelmed that I sat down in fear, with tears in my eyes. It was intense, but I faced it.”

Fast forward to Season 2 — and Karan is not just facing fears, he’s leaping over them. This time around, he’s taken on every stunt himself, with no body doubles.

“In Special Ops 2, there’s a stunt I really wanted to do. When Neeraj sir asked if I wanted to go for it, I told him I’d like to see the location first. It turned out to be the world’s second-highest man-made dam. The moment I saw it, I knew I had to do this for myself. Afterward, the feeling stayed with me. Today, I no longer fear heights. In fact, I’m excited to do more. That experience was a turning point — something I truly took back from Special Ops 2.”

That kind of transformation — from paralyzing fear to empowered thrill-seeker — speaks volumes not just about Karan’s growth as an actor, but also about his mindset as a performer constantly seeking to challenge himself.

Off the back of this adrenaline-charged role, Karan has also wrapped filming for Bhay, an intense psychological thriller for Prime Video. The final leg was shot in London, and insiders are already calling it one of his most demanding and career-defining performances to date.

With Tanvi The Great — directed by Anupam Kher — also on the horizon, where he plays a layered and emotionally rich role, Karan Tacker is proving his versatility across genres and platforms. Whether it’s conquering fears or carrying the emotional weight of complex characters, the actor is fast becoming one of the most exciting names to watch in 2025 and beyond.
