MUMBAI: While several actors exited Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah over the years due to personal or professional reasons, there were a few who wished to continue but were unable to do so due to health issues. Two such beloved actors were Kavi Kumar Azad and Ghanshyam Nayak, who sadly passed away, leading to their eventual replacements on the show.
In a recent interview with Filmy Gyaan, actor Tanmay Vakharia aka Baaga — who shared the maximum screen time with the late Ghanshyam Nayak — opened up about his final conversation with him. Vakharia recalled meeting Nayak just a few months before his passing. Despite his health struggles, Nayak remained optimistic about his recovery and expressed a strong desire to return to work. He was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

Tanmay Vakharia shared, "I met Ghanashyam Nayak in June 2021 while we were shooting in Daman. He had come for a day to shoot with us and was very positive about his recovery. He was genuinely excited about returning to the show, just like before. After that, he underwent a couple of surgeries and was hospitalized. Due to the lockdown restrictions, we weren’t able to visit him. Then, in October 2021, we received the heartbreaking news of his passing."
After the unfortunate tragedy, actor Kiran Bhatt replaced Nayak as new Nattu Kaka in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
