MUMBAI : Sony SAB show Itti Si Khushi, produced by Goldie Behl’s Rose Audio Visuals, takes viewers into the world of the Divekar family, a middle-class household in Mumbai, where life is a constant balance between financial struggles and emotional bonds. The show focuses on everyday challenges with warmth, sincerity, and relatability, highlighting both the difficulties and the small joys that define their lives.
At the heart of the story is Anvita Divekar, played beautifully by Sumbul Touqeer Khan. Anvita is the pillar of her family, silently taking on responsibilities and sacrifices while caring for her siblings, Sidhu, Bandya, Chidiya, Chiku, and Bani. Her love for them and the way she nurtures their bond gives the show its emotional depth. Sumbul shines in the role, switching effortlessly between restraint and raw emotion, while her humorous punches bring lightheartedness to the narrative.
The show also presents the complexities of the Divekar family dynamic. Suhas Divekar, the father, portrayed by Varun Badola, struggles with alcoholism, often causing chaos instead of providing support. While his flaws frustrate the family, there remains a mix of love and respect for him as their father. Badola delivers a powerful performance, reminding viewers of his earlier impactful roles, yet adding more nuance here.
Adding intrigue to the story is Virat, played by Rajat Verma. Virat’s character is surrounded by mystery, especially about his financial background. Though he initially appears wealthy, he introduces himself as a valet worker, hinting at deeper secrets. Rajat carries the role with charm, balancing the happy-go-lucky side of his character with subtle ambiguity. His chemistry with Sumbul adds freshness to the narrative.
The sibling actors—Sachin Chaudhary, Manoj Padhye, Aayesha Vindhara, Harsh Prakash Jha, and Shailesh Gupta—bring authenticity and joy to their scenes, making the family bond believable. Supporting actors like Rishi Saxena, Gouri Tonnk, Garima Jain, and Amit Dolawat also fit seamlessly into the story.

It captures the vibrancy of Mumbai life while also diving into the emotional and financial realities of middle-class families. The balance between heartfelt moments, humor, and struggles makes it both engaging and relatable.
The production also ensures that the narrative moves at a brisk pace, avoiding unnecessary drag. Each episode highlights not just the hardships of the Divekars but also their resilience and ability to find hope in small moments. The mix of poignant scenarios and lighthearted exchanges ensures that the audience connects with the characters on a deeper level.
Overall, Itti Si Khushi is a refreshing watch in the current television landscape. It succeeds in presenting a relatable story with strong performances, particularly from Sumbul Touqeer Khan and Varun Badola. While the show has all the right ingredients to engage viewers, its long-term success will depend on whether audiences continue to connect with its authentic storytelling.
