MUMBAI: Filmmaker Aakash Sharma is stepping into a new chapter of his career with his directorial and writing debut, Adhuri Kahani — a cinematic journey that draws its strength from real-life stories of pain, survival, and the haunting beauty of incompleteness.
The film, which will be shot across the stunning landscapes of Himachal, Punjab, Kashmir, and Austria, promises to be more than just a visual spectacle. It is envisioned as a deeply personal narrative that connects with audiences far beyond borders.
At its heart, Adhuri Kahani unfolds as a three-part saga, interwoven with the lives of four protagonists: a woman scarred by unimaginable suffering, a man trapped in the cycle of addiction and heartbreak, a boy silenced by the trauma of bullying and assault, and a young girl whose love story is left unfinished. Each of their stories is an unhealed wound, but together they shine a light on the quiet struggles people often fight in silence.
For Sharma, the film is intensely personal. “This is not just my first film as a writer and producer,” he says. “It is a reflection of wounds that never healed, of truths that could never be silenced, and of lives—not just mine but also of my loved ones—that walked through pain, love, and survival. Some stories are not imagined; they are lived. And this one demanded to be told. Adhuri Kahani is not merely a film; it is a voice for every incomplete tale that still beats inside a heart.”
With casting underway, the project is already generating buzz for its raw honesty and cinematic ambition. More than a debut, Adhuri Kahani feels like Sharma’s attempt to give voice to the unsaid, to spark conversations around trauma, healing, and hope.
