MUMBAI: Rajan Shahi is a name that needs no introduction in the Indian television industry. Known as one of the most successful producers of modern times, he has delivered record-breaking shows such as Anupamaa and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, both of which continue to dominate TRP charts.
Often referred to as the “King Of Television,” Shahi recently spoke about his experience of working with popular actor Shaheer Shaikh, offering rare insights into the actor’s professional and personal qualities.
In a candid interview, the ace producer showered praise on Shaheer, describing him as humble, simple, and completely free of tantrums traits that set him apart in an industry known for its complexities.

“He is like a king, very passionate about his craft,” Shahi shared. “Once he asked me if he could direct a few scenes, and I agreed. Normally, I would never hand over direction to an actor working in my show, but Shaheer proved me wrong. He directed several episodes beautifully, and I encouraged him to pursue direction more seriously because of the finesse with which he shot those sequences.”
The producer went on to describe Shaheer’s personality off-camera, admiring his integrity and work ethic. “Shaheer has a clean heart. He never speaks ill of anyone, doesn’t indulge in manipulation or games, and gets along with everyone on set. He is extremely humble and grounded you would never know he’s such a big star because he carries no airs about him. Unlike many who adjust timings to suit themselves, Shaheer is the kind of person who, even if he leaves an hour early, will more than make up for it by giving ten hours extra without hesitation.”
Over the years, Rajan Shahi and Shaheer Shaikh have collaborated on acclaimed shows like Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke and Woh Toh Hai Albelaa, both of which found a strong connect with audiences.
