MUMBAI: The music world suffered an irreparable loss on 19th September 2025, when celebrated singer Zubeen Garg tragically passed away in an accident. Hailing from Assam, Garg was not only a cultural icon in his home state but also enjoyed immense love and admiration across the country. Best known for his soulful rendition of Ya Ali, his untimely demise has left fans in deep shock and sorrow. Across Assam, people continue to mourn, paying heartfelt tributes to the legend whose voice defined an era.

TellyChakkar.com has exclusively learned that actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee, widely loved for her role in Saath Nibhana Saathiya, was invited to join the grand celebrations of the 25th anniversary of Star Parivaar Awards. However, out of respect for Garg, Devoleena chose not to attend the event.

A source revealed, “Devo shares her roots with Zubeen Daa, both being from Assam. She held him in the highest regard, and in solidarity with her people back home, she decided to skip the celebration of Star Parivaar Awards and mourn his loss.”

While Devoleena could not be reached for a comment, her gesture has resonated with many fans who appreciated her quiet tribute to the late singer.

According to reports, Garg’s death certificate was issued in Singapore, where he was vacationing at the time. Following a post-mortem, the authorities confirmed the cause of death as drowning during a water sports activity.

Zubeen Garg’s legacy, however, will continue to live on in his timeless songs and in the hearts of millions who grew up listening to his voice.
