Kareena’s Buckingham Murders Leads the Pack as Balaji Telefilms Racks Up 13 Filmfare Nominations

Buckingham Murders

MUMBAI: The Buckingham Murders has stormed into the 70th Filmfare Awards with five major nominations. The Hansal Mehta–directed thriller is up for Critics’ Best Film, with Kareena Kapoor Khan recognised in Critics’ Best Actor (Female). The film also finds itself in the running for background score, cinematography and sound design.

Backed by Balaji Telefilms, The Buckingham Murders headlines a strong slate for the studio this year. Dibakar Banerjee’s provocative Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 has picked up five nominations of its own — including Best Story, Production Design, Editing and a Debut Male nomination for Abhinav Singh.

Adding to the mix, the slick entertainer Crew secured three nominations, with Best Actress nominations for Kareena Kapoor Khan and Tabu, along with a nomination for Best Costume.

Together, the three titles add up to 13 nominations across 29 categories — underlining the breadth of Balaji’s line-up, from gritty crime dramas to bold experiments and stylish entertainers. At the centre of it all, The Buckingham Murders sets the tone as one of this year’s strongest contenders.
