MUMBAI: The legendary actor applauds the young director’s step in staging Stephen Adly Guirgis’ acclaimed dark comedy ‘The Motherf**ker with the Hat’ at NCPA on October 26.
Veteran actor and filmmaker Kamal Haasan has extended his best wishes to director Nithin Ram ahead of his upcoming Broadway-style play in Mumbai. The play, The Motherf**ker with the Hat, will be staged on October 26 at the NCPA Experimental Theatre. Known for encouraging fresh voices in art and performance, Kamal took a moment to acknowledge Nithin’s creative venture.
In his message, Kamal Haasan wrote, “Hi Nithin, have read the synopsis of the Broadway play you are going to perform. Eagerly waiting of audience reaction. You should do more in TN and Tamizh too. All the best.”
Directed by Nithin Ram and Aakash Prabhakar, the play brings Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis’ explosive dark comedy to the Indian stage. Set in New York, it tells the story of Jackie, a recovering addict whose fragile new life spirals when he discovers another man’s hat in his lover’s apartment — a premise that promises both humour and heartbreak.
With Kamal Haasan’s encouragement and the creative energy of its directors, the production aims to push boundaries and showcase the richness of live performance to Mumbai audiences.
