“Thamma was one of the most enriching experiences of my life,” says debutant Rachit Singh as he reflects on stepping in front of the camera for the very first time

Thamma

MUMBAI: After spending a decade shaping performances behind the scenes, Rachit — an established acting coach — has taken a remarkable leap to the screen. His powerful portrayal of Veeran in Thamma has already  earning praise, marking a deeply personal and inspiring new chapter in his creative journey.

In the film, Rachit brings depth and intensity to Veeran, a devoted follower of the Betaal sect who worships ‘Thama’ Yakshasan, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. His unwavering faith puts him at odds with Tadaka, portrayed by Rashmika Mandanna, who fights to protect Alok (Ayushmann Khurrana) from Yakshasan’s looming darkness.

Alongside this, Rachit also takes on the surprising role of a vampire in the film — a transformation that demanded immense physical discipline and emotional preparation, showcasing his dedication to authenticity and storytelling.

Speaking about his debut experience, Rachit shared, “Thamma was my first film, and I was extremely excited. All my life I wanted to be an actor, and finally, I was getting the chance to be in front of the camera. It truly has been one of the most enriching experiences of my life. You learn so much on a film set — how a film comes to life, how many people are involved, the energy, the time, even for a single scene. I’ve grown enormously both as an artist and as a person. Thamma has been one of the best things that could have happened to me, and this journey will always stay with me.”
