MUMBAI: Actor Arjun Verma, who currently plays the lead role of Dev in the Dangal TV show Paro Sang Dev, says landing the project was not just a big professional opportunity but also a personal fan moment. The show is co-produced by Bhairavi Raichura, best known for her iconic portrayal of Kaajal Mathur in the cult sitcom Hum Paanch.
In an exclusive chat with TellyChakkar, Arjun shared that being part of a show associated with Bhairavi felt special from the very beginning. “When I learned that Bhairavi ma’am is producing the show, I was genuinely happy. She is our favourite Kaajal Mathur. Later, my mom also remembered her as Bhagwati Singh from Balika Vadhu,” he recalls with a smile.
Although Arjun hasn’t had an in-depth conversation with her yet, their brief interactions have been warm and encouraging. “We’ve only exchanged greetings so far. I haven’t had many personal interactions with her, but every time we’ve met, it has felt good. She always greets with a smile, and there’s absolutely no negativity,” he adds.
Speaking about his character Dev, Arjun says he is thoroughly enjoying the experience. “I’m having a great time shooting. Having worked in the Punjabi industry, I feel the only difference here is the language—emotions remain the same everywhere. Hindi is comfortable for me, so it’s been smooth. Dev is deeply connected to his mother and father, and that resonates with me because I am the same in real life,” he shares.
Arjun began his acting journey with the Punjabi serial Dildariyan, where he played a parallel lead. He then went on to headline another Punjabi show titled Gal Mithi MŚithi and later appeared in several music albums for well-known music labels.
