MUMBAI: Bigg Boss 19 continues to dominate Indian television, consistently ranking among the top twenty most-watched shows on the BARC charts each week.
Packed with emotions, clashes, and constantly changing alliances, the show stays among the most engaging and talked-about reality programmes in the country.
Bigg Boss 19 has once again turned into a battleground — this time over one of Bollywood’s most polarising topics: nepotism.
What began as a casual discussion between composer Amaal Mallik and actor Gaurav Khanna quickly spiralled into a sharp, emotionally charged exchange about privilege, opportunity, and the insider–outsider divide in the entertainment industry.
The argument kicked off when Gaurav stated that an artist’s first opportunity often comes not from talent but from having the right connections.
He argued that access plays a huge role in entering the industry, and those without it have a much harder climb.
Amaal immediately countered, insisting that struggle exists for everyone, regardless of background.
Gaurav disagreed strongly, telling Amaal in essence that where Amaal’s struggle begins is where others only dream of reaching.
He pointed out that a “foot in the door” is itself an advantage, even if the journey afterwards is equally difficult.
Amaal acknowledged this partially, saying he could not deny moments where being part of a known musical family opened doors — but he insisted it came with its own stigma and challenges.

The argument intensified when Amaal described himself as a “reverse nepotism product,” implying that being from a well-known family often made people dismiss his talent, judge him more harshly, or assume he achieved success solely through connections.
He argued that expectations, comparisons, and assumptions can sometimes create their own obstacles, adding pressure instead of easing it.
Meanwhile, outside the house, Amaal’s father, veteran musician Daboo Malik, addressed allegations that Salman Khan was favouring Amaal on the show.
He said that such conclusions were baseless and exaggerated. According to him, Amaal is just another hardworking musician who has earned appreciation through his work, not through any influence or special treatment.
He clarified that there has been no proximity or professional association with Salman Khan for nearly a decade.
Daboo explained that although they collaborated with him long ago, they haven’t worked together since, nor have they enjoyed any ongoing support or industry backing from him.
He stressed that people are “connecting dots that do not exist” and placing them on an undeserved pedestal.
The debate in the Bigg Boss house reflects a larger ongoing conversation in Bollywood — one filled with personal experiences, disagreements, and complex emotions surrounding opportunity and merit.
With both Amaal and Gaurav standing firmly by their perspectives, the topic is likely to remain a talking point among viewers in the days ahead.
