Her public life has always been marked by her status as a soldier's daughter, a background she has frequently credited for her courage and resilience.

Peter Haag is an Austrian national known primarily as a hotelier, entrepreneur, and brand strategist with a professional background in senior marketing roles for major hospitality groups in Dubai and Singapore.

He married Celina Jaitly in 2011, and the couple welcomed twin boys in 2012, followed by another set of twins in 2017, one of whom tragically passed away due to a heart defect.

The marriage between actor Celina Jaitly and Austrian hotelier Peter Haag has reached a public and contentious legal phase, with Ms Jaitly filing a detailed domestic violence complaint against her estranged husband in a Mumbai court.

The case outlines a prolonged period of alleged abuse, cruelty, and financial control, forcing the actor to seek judicial intervention and protection.

Celina Jaitly has taken serious legal action against her estranged husband, Austrian hotelier Peter Haag.

The actor filed a domestic violence complaint in a Mumbai court, alleging years of severe emotional, physical, sexual, and verbal abuse, manipulation, and financial coercion, which eventually compelled her to flee her marital home in Austria and return to India for justice.

According to the complaint filed by her legal team, Celina Jaitly endured continuous acts of cruelty throughout their marriage.

Her lawyer detailed that the abuse included an extreme level of financial control where Mr Haag allegedly confiscated her debit and credit cards, effectively robbing her of financial independence and dignity.

The actor, who married Haag in 2011, claims her husband systematically dismantled her professional persona and prohibited her from working on various pretexts after the birth of their children.

The complaint further alleges that the businessman has a "narcissistic, self-absorbed" personality with "alcoholic tendencies" which constantly exacerbated the hostile environment.

The court plea includes chilling details of verbal abuse, stating that Mr Haag would often use racist and degrading remarks towards her, calling her his "maidservant" and telling her that she "looked like his maid" or that "people would mistake her for the help."

This constant humiliation is cited as having caused immense mental distress and a breakdown of her self-esteem.

A significant allegation involves the coercion of property transfer.

In 2017, while Ms Jaitly was dealing with profound grief following the death of her newborn son and both her parents within a short span, Mr Haag allegedly took advantage of her vulnerable emotional state to pressure her into transferring her Mumbai residence to his name via a gift deed.

A separate civil suit is now pending in the Bombay City Civil Court seeking the cancellation of this property transfer.

Her legal team also claimed that Mr Haag sold a joint property in Vienna without her knowledge.

The lawyer provided an exclusive account of the actor's desperate measures to flee their home in a small alpine village in Austria, where they were reportedly isolated and had little local support.

The complaint states that Mr Haag had control of all her personal documentation, including her passport, to prevent her from leaving.

One day, while seeking a private place to consult with her legal counsel, Ms Jaitly reportedly located the hidden documents.

Subsequently, with the crucial help of a neighbour, she was able to rush back to India in October.

The matter is currently before the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Andheri, Mumbai, and a notice has been issued to Peter Haag, with the case posted for hearing.

Ms Jaitly is seeking ₹50 crore in compensation for the suffering endured and ₹10 lakh per month as maintenance.

Furthermore, the actor is fighting a custody battle for her three children, who are currently with their father in Austria, and is seeking a custody order that grants her unhindered access to them.
