The audience will see many shades of him: Armaan Gumber on his character in Tu Juliet Jatt Di

MUMBAI: Armaan Gumber, who has been part of the web series like Jhungian Road and Tu Aashiki Haii, the Punjabi film Kharka Darka and over ten short films, is currently seen as Tony in Sargun Mehta and Ravie Dubey’s Tu Juliet Jatt Di, produced under their banner Dreamiyata Entertainment. Though he had originally auditioned for a different show, working with Dreamiyata turned out to be destiny for him.

"It wasn’t the script at first. I had gone for a mock shoot for Ganga Mai Ki Betiyaan on Zee TV, which I didn’t clear. A few days later, I was told that Sargun ma’am had personally selected me for Tu Juliet Jatt Di. That itself was a huge moment for me. When someone like her sees potential in you, you don’t think twice. I said yes immediately," he said.

Talking about his character, he shared that he relates to him a lot. He said, "He’s a teenage guy who pretends not to care, but he feels things very deeply, and that mix of carefree and emotional is something I personally understand. He gets especially emotional when his cousin sister Heer is mistreated by her father, and that inner sensitivity connects with me too."

He also revealed that his character's gradual evolution is what makes this character different. He said, "As the show moves forward, the audience will see many shades of him. And because this is a daily TV show, I get much more space to explore and play with every layer of his personality."

Asked if he did any special preparations for his role, he said, "We had special workshops with the director to understand the depth of the character, and Sargun ma’am also joined a few sessions, which helped a lot. Those workshops guided me on the emotions, the attitude, and the overall vibe of my character."

Armaan is happy that the show highlights Punjabi culture and shared, "Till now, two things have really attracted me: Heer’s suits and our house setup in the show. Both feel very real and very Punjabi. And because I’m also from a pind, these cultural details feel special to me. As more elements come in, I know it will feel even more meaningful."

He feels that Tu Juliet Jatt Di stands out from other TV shows because it’s not just a simple love story. He said, "It’s a college romance full of misunderstandings, mixed with family disputes on both sides. That clash between young love and family tension makes the narrative feel fresh and exciting compared to usual romance dramas."

He is grateful to be working with Sargun, Ravie, and the Dreamiyata team. He said, "We have genuinely become like a family. We work together, eat together, and laugh together, and that comfort naturally reflects on screen. I’ve learned a lot from them, not just about acting but about life too."

"And since I’m the youngest on set, I’ve become the officially licensed bacha of the group, loved, pampered, and occasionally teased in the cutest way. That fun, family vibe keeps me motivated and definitely influences my performance in a positive way," Armaan ended.
