Onam, that marks the beginning of the harvest festival In Kerala, is the most popular festival of the Malayalees. This festival is celebrated for a period of ten days with great enthusiasm throughout Kerala when people wear new clothes, decorate their houses and put flower carpets called Pookalam in front of their houses to welcome King Mahabali.
On this auspicious day, Tellychakkar.com talked to few Malayalee TV stars and asked them of their plans to celebrate this festival.
Firstly we got in touch with Radio jockey, stand-up comedian and actor Suresh Menon, who has impressed everyone with his never seen before mock-villain avatar in Grand Masti. Feeling a little down, Suresh says, “Yes, I am down with fever and cold. Onam is a very auspicious day for us when we begin our day with having bath with coconut oil and wear new clothes. Today we have cooked typical traditional food like sambhar, imli chatni, pickle, kheer, banana chips and papad. Back in childhood, when I used to stay in my home state, I used to celebrate this festival with my parents and enjoy all the rituals. Today, I miss my parents a lot. Well, this morning I also came to know that my latest film Grand Masti has collected a whooping Rs 40 crore. So, now I have two reasons to celebrate this festival. So, thank you guys and I wish a Happy Onam to all my lovely fans.”
Indira Krishnan, who is fondly known as Krishnaben Khakhrawala, avers, “First of all let me wish a Happy Onam to all my fans. Well, this year I am not celebrating Onam on a grand scale as I had got Ganpati at our place. Naturally there were many guests at my place. And today also since I have many meetings, I am a bit tied up. But like every year, I have decorated my house with flowers and lamps. I will definitely go to a temple to seek the blessings of God and ask for good work.”
Lastly, Pallavi Purohit, who is currently seen in Colors’ Madhubala, adds, “I am at Bangalore shooting for my upcoming South Indian film. I am fortunate that this year I am celebrating this festival with the most handsome man Mammootty. Since Onam is the festival of Malayalees, our entire cast and crew is being treated with typical South Indian food like sambhar, rice, payasam (kheer), papadam. All this is to be served on a banana leaf. So, today I am enjoying this fare with a lot of excitement and zeal. Let me take this opportunity to wish everyone Happy Onam. I promise to keep working hard and do love me the same as always.”
Tellychakkar.com wishes everyone a very Happy Onam.
