The desi version of Pink Panther is soon coming to your drawing room in the form of Jaankhilavan Jasoos, slated to soon go on Sab TV.
Playing the desi version of the bumbling Inspector Clouseau -- immortalized on the big screen by Peter Sellers and then Steve Martin - is Nitesh Pandey.
The production house and the channel have been going blue in the face denying any similarities whatsoever between Jaankhilavan and Inspector Clouseau, but the cap and the pencil moustache, make him a good lookalike, alright.
Says producer Pradeep Uppoor, “He is extremely different from Pink Panther. Our show is actually a mix of CID and Gutur Gu and we have kept the sensibilities of family audiences while writing and creating the show.”
In other words, is JJ a sanitized, purified Inspector Clouseau? No one was willing to comment on this. Well, we guess, will have to wait and tune in on November 19 to draw our own conclusions.
