2013 - Top Production Houses of Hindi GECs

2013
The countdown to the culmination of the year ‘2013’ has begun!! As we welcome the New Year, we draw our attention to the production houses that have managed to garner all the attention of viewers with their shows, be it with a gripping story line or drama quotient. We at Tellychakkar.com have already presented our readers with Year-Ender articles on the Top 10 shows on Hindi GECs, and now we give our readers an article on the production houses that have stolen the limelight this year. (Names arranged alphabetically). Balaji Telefilms (Jodha Akbar): The Czarina, Ekta Kapoor has once again proved her critics wrong by making a success story of Jodha Akbar. She took her own sweet time to launch the show, and saw to it that she had everything in place. It is not that Ekta had a cake-walk to success. She was troubled by regular comparisons to the Hrithik-Aishwarya Jodha Akbar on the big screen, followed by the various controversies that the show got into. However, in just a short span of time, Ekta has managed to take the show to the top of the TVT charts. And the popularity for the leading characters is simply growing with every passing day. The journey has just begun, and there’s quite a lot to be achieved. Endemol India (Bigg Boss 7): The ‘Baap’ of all shows, Bigg Boss can only survive with trouble brewing from all quarters!! Though this season is touted to be a bit more violent and cheap, nobody can ever stop talking about this remarkable show that brings the ‘best’ and the ‘worst’ out of its contestants. Endemol’s Bigg Boss can be loved, hated but never be ignored! – And this says it all… Fireworks Productions (Hum Ne Li Hai.. Shapath and CID): B. P. Singh and his team have re-created history by keeping the audience of all age groups (starting from kids to the elder people) glued to CID which is still going strong in terms of content, story and execution even after 16 long years. A weekend is simply not complete for a family without watching ACP Pradhyuman (Shivaji Satam) and his men taking guard to solve cases. A commendable effort, indeed!! Hum Ne Li Hai… Shapath which was almost on the verge of shutting shop got a new lease of life because of the faith that the channel and the makers had in the concepts they could churn out. And what a remarkable turnaround this show has had!! The concepts of weird yet interesting super-villains, the sci-fi stories, the visual effects, and fight of the cops – all this has been a complete package of wholesome entertainment, and there is no looking back for the makers as they are already on the quest to try innovative and unique concepts. K9 / SOL Productions (Comedy Nights with Kapil): Kapil Sharma, take a bow!! The man has got a huge share of popularity for being a super anchor and producer who has taken the show to great heights. But wait a minute, the makers have gone through their share of downs too, with their set getting engulfed by fire and with the very popular Gutthi (Sunil Grover) getting out of the show. However, the makers have stood tall and taken all the negatives in their stride only to continue riding on the success path. Lost Boy Productions (Gumrah – End of Innocence, Yeh Hai Aashiqui, MTV Webbed):Vikas Gupta and his team have kept giant steps in educating and spreading messages to the young blood via their real-life stories in Gumrah and MTV Webbed. While they take to some serious story telling in these shows, the team has given a trend-setter in Yeh Hai Aashiqui, a show that tells unusual, gripping love stories. Must say, the creative team of all the three shows needs a pat on their backs for enlightening the viewers with grave issues and incidents. Neela Telefilms (Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah): Take a bow, Mr. Asit Modi and team for making Taarak Mehta a part of our lives!! Even though it is a rib-tickler to the core, this show has left no stone unturned in dealing with various day-to-day issues that the layman of today faces. Every track comes with a message to convey to the audience and that’s the greatness of it. Optimystix Productions (Comedy Circus Ke Mahabali and Crime Patrol): To create a comedy show like Comedy Circus Ke Mahabali, that brings in talented stand-up comedians on one platform to showcase their talent is one thing, but to sustain its success for many years is another. It’s simply a team-effort that has kept this stand-up comedy show going strong for years!! Kudos to the team’s creativity and unassuming talent in the field of comedy. And what have we to tell about their other popular show, Crime Patrol? The manner in which they bring to the notice of audience, horrendous and sensitive real-life cases makes Optimystix stand out from the rest. Rajshri Productions (Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara): Simplicity mixed with a realistic feel when it comes to their characters and story-telling – this is what keeps Rajshri Productions in the elite group. While there is always a hue and cry made by other leading shows with respect to the twists and turns they have with introductions of new vamps/villains, a negative angle etc, here is a show which is devoid of all the eccentricities. Yet it has slowly and steadily managed to go up the TVT charts, and has carved a place for itself in the audiences’ hearts. Shashi-Sumeet Mittal Productions Pvt. Ltd (Diya Aur Baati Hum): Shashi and Sumeet Mittal who started their journey in Hindi television as writers have made a big impact as Producers. Their popular show Diya Aur Baati Hum has not only managed to stay at the number 1 position since ages, but has also been successful in telling a story with a ‘difference’. The most impressive aspect of the show is that the major crux of the concept (Sandhya’s IPS dreams bearing fruits) has just started, and there is a long way to go for this already popular show. Indeed, one can expect the makers to be successful in breaking many a records as they take Diya Aur Baati Hum ahead. Sphere Origins (Balika Vadhu): A trend-setter of a show going strong with beautifully crafted story lines that often deals with social issues. The team of Sunjoy Wadhwa and Purnendu Shekhar emerged as ‘visionaries’ who showed the way of breaking the shackles of ‘saas-bahu sagas’ on TV and coming up with a novel subject which will entice the audience to stick to it, even after years of its launch… This was our list of the top production houses that have proved their mettle in the year 2013. However, there are a few more names of production houses that we would like to mention who definitely have had a great year. Big Synergy (Kaun Banega Crorepati): Siddhartha Basu and Anita Kaul Basu’s brain child (KBC) is now an independent individual who stands tall amidst some serious competition. Year after year, the makers along with their dynamic host Amitabh Bachchan have managed to reap rewards of its success. Cinevistaas Ltd (Dil Dostii Dance): The first of its kind, when it comes to a concept of ‘dance’ being the central point in a fiction show, Cinevistaas has turned no stone unturned in keeping the tracks interesting for the youth of today. Every actor who has been a part of this show is a ‘star’ today, and this simply proves its popularity!! Rashmi Sharma Productions (Saath Nibhana Saathiya): A sheer example of believing in what you have conceived and developed – Rashmi Sharma’s team has managed to enthrall the audience for years with interesting tracks. The show is going strong, being one of the top shows on the TVT charts. 4 Lions Films (Qubool Hai and Suvreen Guggal): While the producers provided an unseen Muslim concept in Qubool Hai, they also gave the youth a show like Suvreen Guggal – Topper of the Year which had everything in it to please viewers. Esselvision (India's Best Dramebaaz, Dance India Dance): Zee TV's in-house production company has really churned out some uber cool non fiction shows this year. The other production houses that are worth mentioning are – BBC Worldwide Productions (Yeh Hai Aashiqui and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa), Shakuntalam Telefilms (Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke), Director’s Kut (Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai), Rose Audio Visuals (Kehta Hai Dil… Jee Le Zara), Beyond Dreams Productions (Veera, Junoon), Swastik Productions (Mahabharat). and Sunshine Productions (Na Bole Tum Season 2, The Buddy Project).
