Kareena Kapoor should start a charity - Deepika Padukone tells on Koffee with Karan

Deepika Padukone
The reigning queen of Bollywood marquee, Deepika Padukone made an appearance on Koffee with Karan yesterday (Star World) with the very affable Priyanka Chopra. What caught our eye was her smart, to the point and acerbic answers to certain questions posed, one of which stumped even host Karan too. When asked what she would wish for Kareena to do if she had not been in show business, Deepika without batting an eyelid said, 'Charity.' A confused Karan stared at Deepika, trying to make sense of why she said Kareena should open a charity as there was no plausible connection. And then it dawned later on Karan and Priyanka that Deepika was referring to Bebo's uncanny and generous habit of refusing roles that finally ended up making other actresses who accepted it, famous. Kareena, for the uninitiated, was the first actress Sanjay Leela Bhansali had approached for Ram-Leela. She rejected it for reasons best known to her. The same role was then offered to Deepika Padukone and the rest, as they say, is history. When we had asked Kareena sometime back before the release of Ram-Leela if she regretted rejecting the roles that made other actresses famous, the bubbly actress said she never regretted anything that she had refused, in hindsight. Kareena had also moved out after shooting a few scenes in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hain with Hrithik. Both these movies are today etched in the history of Bollywood as blockbuster hits. Well, we don't know how charitable Kareena will find Deepika's comment but we can say this that Deepika surely has learnt to walk the talk in terms of being honest with her opinion.
