Sony and UTV Television are set to bring in the UK version of Wife Swap on Indian TV screens. The UK version of the show consists of swapping wives with completely polar lifestyles but the Indian version is expected to swap celebrity spouses with common housewives.
A source informs,” Wife Swap is being reworked in the Indian format and Sony has bagged the rights. In fact the title may also get Indianised and the show may now have a Hindi title. We will though change the format considering Indian sensibilities and celebrity housewives will be swapped with commoners. We have already approached celebrity spouses and are looking at nailing down the hosts. The probable names for the anchors are Supriya Pathak and Supriya Pilgaonkar. We are keen on either one of them and talks are on with both of them. Hopefully things will materialize by the end of this month.”
We tried contacting both Supriya Pilgaonkar and Supirya Pathak but as Pathak remained unavailable Pilgaonkar told us that she had not been contacted by the channel. UTV officials also refused to comment on the same.
The show is expected to air early next year.
