We all know that UTV Motion Pictures had earlier approached Sridevi to star in their upcoming ambitious film Fitoor. But due to reasons of her own, the English Vinglish actress didn’t take it up.
Now the producers have offered the same role to the evergreen actress Rekha to play Miss Havisham, a cold-hearted, rich spinster. To their surprise, the ageing actress has not only given a nod to the project but has signed it too.
Fitoor is a romantic film that is said to be an adaptation of Charles Dickens's classic ‘Great Expectations’. The story is based on an orphan Pip who falls in love with a wealthy, heartless girl named Estella.
Coming to the film, we had earlier reported how Sushant Singh Rajput opted out of this Abhishek Kapoor-directed project because he was signed for YRF’s Shekhar Kapur-directed film Paani.
The film stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif in the lead. While Aditya will essay the role of the Pip the orphan boy Katrina will play the character of Estella.
Interestingly, this will be the first time that Katrina would work with the director.
The film is expected to release this July.
