Miss Lovely's director amused at Shyam Ramsay's accusations

Ashim Ahluwalia and Shyam Ramsay
Shyam Ramsay recently went public with his grouse against Miss Lovely and its makers. In Shyam’s own words, ‘Miss Lovely’ was nothing but a desperate attempt to make a ‘Dirty Picture’ kind of film using our family’s name in the pre-release publicity.’ Shyam’s accusations have amused Miss Lovely’s director Ashim Ahluwalia to no end. Speaking exclusively to Tellychakkar.com, Ashim had a hearty laugh after patiently hearing out Shyam’s concerns. Clarifying that Miss Lovely was not at all about Ramsay brothers and their brand of filmmaking, Ashim said, “The Ramsays are not even relevant to the conversation because they are not part of the C-grade cinema space. Miss Lovely was all about C-grade cinema and it was all about a certain space and a certain time in the mid 80s when you had horror films with sex bits inserted in them. The Ramsay brothers were not even in picture. Ramsay was all about traditional horror without any sex in it. And to be honest, I never found Ramsey brothers pictures very interesting. They are quite boring as compared to the other stuff that was being made.” But did Miss Lovely draw anything at all from Ramsay movies? “Nothing. Not even in the slightest. And I think Ramsay brothers are pretty aware of the fact there is nothing about them in the movie. I am surprised that he would think that Miss Lovely was all about Ramsey brothers. May be Shayam Ramsay is feeling neglected and perhaps feeling that he is not getting enough attention. It is so funny that he would think that Miss Lovely is about his movies,” said Ashim. Well, Ashim it seems has lobbied the ball right back into Ramsay brothers court.
