My father never encouraged me to become an actress - Soundarya Rajinikanth

Soundarya Rajinikanth
Daughter to India’s biggest ever superstar but she still chose to stay put behind the camera rather than being in front of it. Soundarya Rajinikanth could have had the biggest ever launch pad had she chosen to become an actress. And there was no dearth of film offers either. But guess what? Her protective father, superstar Rajinikanth never encouraged her to become an actress. But that is not saying that he discouraged her either. It is just that Soundarya chose a different path to make her career in. Soundarya revealed this interesting piece of tidbit to us in an interview yesterday. “I received many offers to act as it happens to every star child in our country. If you ask me, ‘Did my father encourage me to become an actress; the answer is ‘No’. But had I gone to him and said ‘I want to be an actress,’ I don’t think he would have said ‘No’ but then as a father I think he would have advised me ‘not really.” Clarifying that it was her decision alone to pursue direction instead of acting, Soundarya explained, “I chose not to act. Our parents have encouraged me and my sister to pursue our dreams. So rather than my father wanting me to become an actress, I didn't want to become one. I am happy directing and I think he is happy with my decision.” Well, after seeing the deluge of praise flowing in from the high and mighty of the film industry for her debut film Kochadiiyaan, all we can say is, Soundarya did indeed choose the right path. But then, would she have made a brilliant actress? Now, that’s a question for which there will never be a conclusive answer.
