My musical inspirations spread out from western to Indian artistes - Prakriti Kakkar

Prakriti Kakkar
Prakriti Kakkar, a singer best known as the sister of Bollywood playback singer Akriti Kakkar, is someone who understands music in and out given her musical upbringing. Currently, she has been busy giving stage performances with her twin sister Sukriti Kakkar and she has also worked with some well known music composers. In a conversation with Tellychakkar.com she talks about her dream, inspirations and more… Read on… Why did you pick music as a profession? Music comes naturally to me having being born in a musical family. From a very early age, I started singing and soon realized that I wanted my passion to be my profession. Who have been your musical inspirations? My musical inspirations spread out from western to Indian artistes. My biggest influence in music while growing up has been English music and artists like Whitney Houston, Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera. Here in Bollywood it’s Sunidhi Chauhan. I love her voice. Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years? I see myself travelling and performing at the most exquisite venues, singing my own songs and being accepted for my music. If not into music where do you think you would have been? If not music then, I would have pursued film making and direction. Tell us what the following terms mean to you… Family: Where love comes with no terms and conditions. It's the biggest support system for anybody. The only people who don't judge you. Time: The most valuable gift you can give anybody. Time is money! Love: The most beautiful feeling is to be loved for who you are but it’s also very scary. Success: Reward for every ounce of hard work you put into anything. They say ‘success is sweet, secret is sweat’ so maybe that's what they mean. Are you fashion conscious? Very. But I'm not brand conscious. My closet has everything from big showrooms to street shops to flea markets to hill road. Which international artist do you idolize? Christina Aguilera. How do you think you would like to contribute to the Indian music scene? I would like to contribute to the Indian music scene by lending my voice for Bollywood songs/albums. I would also like to release my own album of the kind of music that describes me best, composed and written by me. Any special mentions for the ones who have supported you till now and who you aspire to work with? I consider myself extremely fortunate to have worked with Shankar Mahadevan, Monty Sharma, Meet Brothers, Sangeet and Siddharth Haldipur, Rupert Fernandes till now. In future I aspire to work with Amit trivedi, Vishal Shekhar, Pritam, Salim Sulaiman and AR Rahman!
