Reigning Marathi superstar Swwapnil Joshi is back to entertain and take audiences on a laughter ride with his upcoming show Dhabal- Ek Taas Time Paas on Star Pravah. An industry veteran, Swwapnil is known for his versatile acting and has done many renowned shows and movies. Tellychakkar.com got in conversation with the man and asked him about the new show. “Dhabal is a typical Marathi term which means a place for youngsters to hangout. It is a very different show with an interesting format. It is a blend of fiction and nonfiction and I have never done a show like Dhabal before.” But the show is being compared a lot to Colors’ Comedy Nights with Kapil? “If someone feels that our show is like Comedy Nights with Kapil then it’s a big compliment. It is my favourite show and I follow it regularly.” Who is your favourite comedian? “My favourite is Ali Asgar. He is like my brother and one of the finest actors on television now.” Other than hosting, are you involved in writing also? “No that is completely done by my creative team.” Can we see actors coming in the show to promote their upcoming films? “Yes, but it won’t be necessary that every week someone will come.” You have never participated in any reality shows, why? “Reality shows are brilliant and entertaining. I am game for it but only dance shows.” You are only concentrating on Marathi shows and films so have you quit Hindi television? “I have decided to take break from Hindi TV. There is lot of Marathi films and the canvas is looking good here. So I won’t do Hindi television for next two years. But there is no strategy as such. Anything that adds value to my CV I will do, language doesn’t really matter. If I get something great then I will surely go for it.” What about upcoming projects? “There are two films. One is Sanjay Dutt’s Pyaar Wali Love Story and Swapna Waghmare Joshi’s first ever Marathi film Mitwa.” All the best Swwapnil for your new show!
