Heropanti is not just a hero's movie - Kriti Sanon

Kriti Sanon
Heropanti's director Sabbir Khan rates her highly on the intellectual scale. Now that is bound to happen if you are an engineering graduate. Meet Kriti Sanon, B-town's latest female debutant who will be seen romancing Tiger Shroff in Heropanti. Born and raised in Delhi, Kriti was doing her engineering when the modelling bug hit her while in her 2nd year. “It all started with modelling when I was in college and later I started doing TVCs (television commercial) as well,” says Kriti. Unlike others, Kriti was never camera conscious. “I just loved the camera and the entire process of acting in TVCs made me realise that acting is where my true passion lies.” To chase those nubile acting dreams, Kriti post her graduation stepped into Mumbai, the film capital of India. The leggy lass was immediately signed on by talent management agency Kwan and more ads followed. It was ultimately an advertisement that brought Kriti into notice. “Sajid Nadiadwala sir saw me in a Close Up ad and asked his AD to look out for me. I was then asked to come for an audition to Sajid sir's office. Here I gave my look test and screen test and believe it or not within 10 minutes of my audition, I was called to meet Sajid sir. He informed me that I have been signed and I just couldn't believe my ears. I rang up my parents and they too couldn't believe it,” reveals Kriti. While Heropanti will mark her debut, Kriti claims to have been offered roles in other big banner movies as well. “I have been offered roles by big banners but I chose not to debut with them because there was not much meat in those roles. A debut can make or break your career and hence I chose Heropanti,” says Kriti. But isn't Heropanti a hero's movie? “Not at all. The title says Heropanti. But it is not a hero's movie. It is essentially a love story between me and Tiger and the problems we face. I didn't sign the film because it had Tiger in it. I signed it because I thought this role will help me showcase my talent,” shares Kriti. While it is commonplace to link the hero and heroine of the movie, there seems to be none here. “That is because we don't have anything between us,” says Kriti and adds, “Tiger is a shy person while I am an extrovert.” Kriti though admits that Tiger's shyness did come as a surprise to her. “Normally a guy with such a good body is never shy. But Tiger is exactly the opposite.” Heropanti right from Day 1 has been billed and promoted as Tiger's movie and the media spotlight has been on Jackie's son. But that doesn't bother Kriti too much who believes both she and Tiger have different pressures on their shoulders. “When you are from a film family, media relates to you. So Tiger has to meet those expectations. I come from a non-film background. So I have the pressure of performing and delivering subsequently to establish myself,” says Kriti While Kriti may be romancing Tiger onscreen, in real life she is yet to find her real hero though she admits that she has experienced puppy love. “I am at such a stage in life where you experience love and stuff. I have experienced some stages earlier but then right now I am single,” winks Kriti. Heropanti opens tomorrow in India.
