The first episode will be ‘Best of Coke Studio’ featuring the best of all the upcoming eight episodes with eight Bollywood singers and folk and regional singers. They will be helped by Leslie Lewis who is the music producer cum director of the show. Show director Supavitra Babul revealed, “This show will offer the purest form of music to the audiences. We have names like Shaan, Shafqat Aamant Ali, Shankar Mahadevan, Sunidhi Chauhan, KK, Hariharan, Kailash Kher, Colonial Cousins, Richa Sharma, Bombay Jayshree who will be jamming along with popular regional singers like Khogen Da, Wadali Borthers, Rashid Khan, Sabri Brothers and upcoming talents like Advaitha, Shruthi Pathak, Chinna Ponnu, Harshdeep and many more. We will offer traditional music in modern avatar which directly connects with the young audience. The music on the show will be fresh and every episode will have about 6-7songs.We have atleast one original composition on each episode. This show is the best I have done till date.” Shaan who is one of the performers on the show says, “Coke Studio to me is the celebration of pure music in these times of digital invasion. Having enjoyed unparalleled success worldwide, it’s making its way in India. What really compelled me to be a part of this musical series was that it intends to cover a broad range of genres encapsulating popular tracks, Sufi, classical, folk with an unusual and different touch to it, thanks to the musical genius of Leslie Lewis. Performing on the show is truly an extremely enjoyable experience; the idea of jamming with artists so different from your style is an experience in itself.” A source reveals, “In all probability the first full fledged episode which will air on June 24 will feature Shankar Mahadevan.” Time will tell if this Coke gives us a high.
