MUMBAI: Jailer was one of the highest grossing films in 2023 and marked the comeback of Thaliavar Rajinikanth after a long gap. There has been a buzz that superstar Rajinikant and director Nelson Dilipkumar are coming back with its sequel; Jailer 2. The latter has now broken his silence amidst the buzz.

Addressing the rumours at an event, Nelson said, “I am not sure whether my project is Jailer 2. Wait for the official announcement.”

Jailer starring Rajinikanth as a retired police officer grossed more than Rs 600 crores at the worldwide box office. Nelson once said that Rajinikanth smoking a cigar was one of his favourite scenes in Jailer! He said that he was inspired to shoot the scene from films like Baasha and Annamalai. Nelson added that it was a task to convince Rajinikanth to smoke on-screen.
