MUMBAI: Lokesh Kanagaraj has carved a niche for himself in the film world. In fact, after Vikram, he has become one of the most popular filmmakers.
His recent crime-thriller gave the perfect comeback to Kamal Haasan, who returned to films after a hiatus of 4 years. Post Vikram, Lokesh will direct Thalapathy Vijay in his next directorial. This film will be Lokesh's second collaboration after 2020's Master.

The tentative title of the upcoming film is Thalapathy 67. Now, there is an update on the film. According to the report of Pinkvilla, Vijay will play a gangster in Lokesh's film, and he will be exploring the dark side of the film.
Further, the report also stated that Vijay would be playing his age, a ganglord in his 40s, and he will have a salt and pepper look for the film. The portal quoted a source closer to the project that stated, "He plays the role of a gangster in his 40s. While the film narrative has some flashback sequences featuring the younger version of self, a major chunk of the narration will see Vijay in the 40s. He will be sporting a salt and pepper look, and the character presentation will be on the lines of Rajinikanth's Baasha. Be prepared, as the film will see Vijay like never before."
If reports are to be believed, Thalapathy Vijay's next film is a part of LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe). So, you can expect Kaithi's Dilli, Vikram to make an appearance, or their world will collide in the film. The source further added, "He definitely wants to bring Vijay also into the universe since he is playing a gangster. There is a version of Thalapathy 67 that has the presence of some characters from Kaithi and Vikram in it."
