MUMBAI :Hindi dubbed versions of South films have been doing well at the box office. This year, Hindi dubbed versions of South films like KGF: Chapter 2, RRR, Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1, Karthikeya 2, and Kantara have done fantastically well at the box office. But, then of course there have been other South films that have failed to make a mark in the Hindi belt, and one of them is Beast.
Thalapathy Vijay and Pooja Hegde starrer Beast was also released in Hindi, and it had just collected Rs. 2.30 crore at the box office. In 2021, even the Hindi dubbed version of Vijay’s Master was released, and even that film failed to make a mark at the box office. It had collected Rs. 4.73 crores. If we go back to 2015, his movie Puli, which also starred Sridevi in a pivotal role, was released in Hindi and it had not pulled audiences to the theatres.
Now, Thalapathy Vijay’s fans down South are eagerly waiting for his next film Varisu which is slated to release on 12th January 2023. Reportedly, the makers have decided to release the film in Hindi as well. But, is it a good option to release the film in Hindi?
Looking at the collections of the Hindi versions of Vijay’s previous films, one can say that the actor fails to pull Hindi moviegoers to the theatres. Even Rashmika, who gave a blockbuster like Pushpa in Hindi, couldn’t manage to deliver a hit with Goodbye which was her Bollywood debut.
So, do you think that Varisu’s Hindi version will do well at the box office? Let us know in the comments below…
