MUMBAI : Tamil television actor Lokesh Rajendran, best known for the popular television serial ‘Marmadesam’ died by suicide. He was 34. He is survived by his wife and two children.

As per a report by Indian Express, Lokesh was addicted to alcohol due to personal issues. On Monday, passers-by at the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) spotted him in discomfort and called for help as well as the police.

Lokesh was taken to the Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital but passed away on Tuesday night.

Lokesh garnered fame for his character ‘Raasu’ in ‘Vidathu Karuppu’, which was a part of the ‘Marmadesam’ anthology in 1996.

The actor's father informed the news portal that Lokesh's wife had filed for divorce which led to him being depressed. He also said that he gave Lokesh some money after the actor stated he would start working as an editor.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC.
