MUMBAI : Veteran Tamil actress Kasammal who gained immense recognition for playing actor Vijay Sethupathi’s mother in the film Kadaisi Vivasayi was shockingly hacked to death by her own son over a dispute on money. The talented actress died on 4th February at her home in Tamil Nadu’s Anaiyur near Madurai.
The police have said that her son P Namakodi has now been taken into custody. As per a news portal, Kasammal and Namakodi had an argument where the latter demanded money from her to buy alcohol but she flatly refused. Following this, he attacked her with a wooden log and the elderly actress succumbed to her injuries and died on the spot.
Namakodi reportedly separated from his wife 15 years ago and had been living with Kasammal since then. The duo had regular arguments due to his drinking habits.
After reaching the crime scene, the Usilampatti Taluk police transported Kasammal;s body for post mortem and also confiscated the murder weapon. Namakodi is one of 4 children of the actress and her late husband Balasami.
