RIP! Tamil actor Junior Balaiah passes away at 70 due to suffocation at his Chennai home

He had acted in over 100 films, some of them included Karakatakkaran, Gopura Vasalile and Sundarakandam. His performance in 2012 from Saattai was widely acclaimed.

MUMBAI: Popular Tamil actor Junior Balaiah aka Raghu Balaiah has sadly passed away due to suffocation. He was 70. He had acted in over 100 films, some of them included Karakatakkaran, Gopura Vasalile and Sundarakandam. His performance in 2012 from Saattai was widely acclaimed.

Junior Balaiah passed away on Thursday morning due to asphyxiation at his home in Chennai. His funeral is expected to take place on Thursday evening. More details of the actor’s last rites are still awaited. 

Born on June 28, 1953, Balaiah had acted in a couple of plays before he featured in films. He began his career with the Sivakumar starrer Melnattu Marumaal and did a lot of supporting roles in many films. He was also seen in Tyagam starring Sivajiganesan and featured as one of Kamal Haasan's friends in Havbe Mayam.

Balaiah has also been part of films like Thani Oruvan, Puli, Ner Konda Parvi, as well as Tv shows like Chithi, Vazhkai and Chinna Papa Periya Papa.
