MUMBAI: Shruti Haasan recently shared a heartwarming memory from her time working with the legendary Sridevi during the shooting of the fantasy film Puli. While both actresses played key roles in the film, it was a behind-the-scenes interaction that left a lasting impression on Shruti. She described Sridevi as someone "peculiarly innocent till the very end," highlighting a unique purity she noticed within the icon.
Shruti recounted how her father, Kamal Haasan, suggested she send a special photo to Sridevi — a nostalgic picture of Sridevi, sitting on her mother's lap alongside Shruti's father. Upon seeing the photo, Sridevi was deeply moved. "In two seconds, makeup for Puli was really elaborate and big. She was just in tears and she’s like, ‘Can I talk to him? I want to talk about this memory,’" Shruti recalled.
Though Sridevi was typically regal and commanding on set - "Like the Queen has entered" Shruti said — it was this fleeting moment of vulnerability that stayed with her. The memory reflects the deep emotional layers behind Sridevi's powerful screen presence.
