MUMBAI : It is not an uncommon thing for stars from the Southern industry to kick off their film careers, first from the TV industry. There have been many top celebrities who have now given hit films in the south and in Hindi movies, who gave wings to their career by first being on TV.
Nayanthara
The Jawan actress began her career initially as a telly host and was seen on the TV show named Chamayam. Reportedly, in 2003 she was roped in for her debut movie Manassinakkare by Sathyan Anthikad.
Vijay Sethupathi
The Farzi star, before becoming famous, was seen in a TV serial named Penn which aired on Sun TV back in 2006. He was also a part of a TV show named Nalaya Iyakunar for Kalaignar TV.
Sai Pallavi
The actress had once participated in Ugail Yaar Adutha Prabhu Deva reality show before becoming a top actress from south.
R Madhavan
The Shaitaan actor started his journey in TV with serials like Sea Hawks, Banegi Apni Baat, and Ghar Jamai.
Prakash Raj
Before the star made a mark in the Tamil film industry he worked in serials like Bisilu Kudure and Guddada Bhoota which used to air on Doordarshan.
Yash
The KGF star began his acting career with Nanda Gokula which was a TV serial and used to air on ETV Kannada. He was also seen in other serials like Malebillu Muktha and Preeti Illada Mele.
Hansika Motwani
She has been one of the most famous stars from the south. Before the actress joined movies, she made her career with a famous telly show named Shaka Laka Boom Boom. She was also seen in the serial Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand.
