MUMBAI: Recently, the Red Sea International Film Festival took place in Saudi Arabia and many well-known actors and actresses had graced the event. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar was also present at the event. He was a part of a discussion where he spoke about his journey as an actor, and the various struggles he faced in the film industry. There was even a time where journalists could ask questions to the panel. One Pakistani man in the crowd told Akshay Kumar that he does many good films, but questioned him on his film Bell Bottom, saying that there were certain things in the film that were against Pakistan. In response, the actor said that one should not get very serious as it is just a film.
The man asked, “I’m from Pakistan, your neighbour country. I have a request. You do fantastic movies like Pad Man and Toilet. There is an issue between India and Pakistan as well. Your recent movie Bell Bottom has certain things against Pakistan.” In response, Akshay said “Sir, it’s just a movie. Don’t get so serious about it.”
The film Bell Bottom was based in the 1980s. It revolved around an Indian airlines plane getting hijacked and a RAW agent is called to its rescue. The agent is given the code name of Bell Bottom. This film was directed by filmmaker Ranjit M. Tewari.
During the festival, Akshay Kumar even revealed some details about his next project. He stated that he is making a movie on sex education that is slated to release somewhere between April and May in 2023. He said that it is very important for people to receive sex education as it is an important subject. He said, “I’m making a movie on sex education. It’s a very important subject. In a lot of places, it is not there. We have all kinds of subjects we learn in school but sex is one education I’d like all the schools in the world to have it because it is important.”
