MAMI to pay homage to 3 veterans who passed away this year

The forthcoming edition of the 14th Mumbai Film Festival, presented by Reliance Entertainment and American Express and organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) will pay its homage to three veterans who passed away earlier this year. Coming on top would be homage to Indian cinema’s first superstar Rajesh Khanna on whose name the festival has dedicated a special segment. The late star’s most memorable film <em>Aradhana</em> would be screened on the occasion.

Dara Singh & Satyadev Dubey's last appearance together

Dara Singh would be seen for the last time in the film Ata Pataa Laapataa. Interestingly the doyen of Hindi theatre Satyadev Dubey who passed away earlier this year would also be seen for the last time in the same film. While Dubey plays a theatre actor, Dara Singh portrays the owner of the drama company. The film a political satire in musical form will be dedicated to Satyadev Dubey and Dara Singh.

Dara Singh breathes his last

Dara Singh (Raja Azaad Singh), who etched the four letter word ‘MARD’ on the chest of his son Raju (Amitabh Bachchan) in the Manmohan Desai-directed film <em>Mard</em> is no more. The Rustam-e-Hind, who never lost a fight in the ring, sadly, breathed his last early this morning (12 July 2012). He died at his house where he was shifted from the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. The wrestler-turned actor had been undergoing dialysis at the hospital. “Angel now gone to shine like a star up above,” the actor’s son, Vindu Dara Singh texted after his father's death.

Dara Singh wants to go... but the doctors won't let him

At this very minute there is a huge conflict going on between the ailing wrestler-star Dara Singh and the doctors who are treating him. Dara Singh has made it clear that would like to go in peace. However his medical team will hear none of it. Keeping a 24x7 vigil on the ailing giant at the Kokilabehn hospital his son Vindu Dara Singh says, “My father really didn’t want to go like this in so much pain. He is ready to go. But we are keeping him alive artificially and,s adly, against his will.”

Dara Singh on ventilator, critical and battling for life

The moment the name Dara Singh is coined, an image forms in our mind’s eye which is of power, strength, beauty and exuberance. Yes, the real “He Man” of the Bollywood industry, Dara “Hercules” Singh is indeed the real man amongst the boys. Now the media is abuzz with the news of Mr Singh being unwell and battling for life.
