<strong>A page from the personal diary of Giaa Maanek</strong> Hello everyone…This is Giaa Maanek, on the other side, whom you know as Gopi bahu from Saath Nibhana Saathiya. Born in Ahmedabad, I was brought up in Mumbai. Here, I stay with my parents andI being the only girl child is pampered by my parents. Having completed my schooling from Shree Vallabh Ashram School in Sion and also from Vasant Vihar High School, Thane, I completed my college in Mass Media and Advertising from Ruia College.

<a hrefhttp://www.tellychakkar.com/news/candid-conversation-giaa-maanek>Giaa Maanek</a> will soon start shooting for her new SAB TV show <a href=http://www.tellychakkar.com/news/jhumma-mitra-and-harsh-khurana-roped-jeannie-aur-juju>Jeannie Aur Juju</a>. But before getting into the grueling work schedule, she is all set to take off for a short holiday with her parents to Bangkok. “Since I had started shooting for <em>Saath Nibhaana Saathiya</em> (she recently opted out of this Star Plus show), I have not been able to find time for even a weekend getaway to Lonavala (nearby hill station).”

Giaa Maanek is very excited to play a genie in the upcoming SAB TV show Jeannie Aur Juju. “She is very beautiful and takes you to a different make-belief word with her magic,” she describes of her character. What made you say yes to this project? “It is very important to play a character which excites me. While other actors’ tom tom that their characters are unique, I really have achieved that status being the first person to essay a genie on desi TV. To get into the role, I watched <em>I Dream of Jeannie</em> on which this show is based,” Giaa says.

Eagle Film’s new show Jeannie Aur Juju on SAB TV is all set to go on air from this month (September). The news has already hit the headlines about Giaa Maanek be playing the character of Jeannie in the project. Furthermore, rib-tickler Ali Asgar will play the character of Vicky master. And the latest we have heard is that actor <a href=http://www.tellychakkar.com/news/ashiesh-roys-sab-tv-awards-nomination>Ashiesh Roy</a> has also been signed to play an important role in the series. Ashiesh is also currently seen in <em>Sasural Simar Ka</em> produced by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms (Colors).

Giaa Maanek's entry in Colors' dance reality show <em>Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa</em> was engulfed in controversy with Giaa Maanek aka Gopi Bahu opting out of Star Plus' <em>Saath Nibhana Saathiya</em> to take part in <em>Jhalak</em>. Giaa went a step ahead and chose the reality show to be aired on the rival channel to the character of Gopi which brought her to the limelight by giving her all the fame.

It’s been 65 years since our freedom fighters brought us independence. However, even today, we celebrate in a somber mood and partake in the festivities half-heartedly. Breaking this tradition and encouraging proud Indians to celebrate the day of liberty with a smile on their faces, Colors presents <em>Comedy ka Jashn - Hasne Ki Azaadi</em> to showcase a dance and comedy extravaganza that will bring together Bollywood and television celebrities.

The beautiful and graceful Giaa Maanek is winning lovely comments and votes in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. We caught up with her between her tough rehearsals and found out what makes this Colors dance show tick for her. “Till now Jhalak has been superb, every week, I have learnt something new about myself. If for one episode I am doing Samba, in the next I am performing a Kathak, to be followed by international Radha in western costumes. The dance forms are as different as chalk and cheese. And the most challenging part is that I don’t get more than three days to rehearse for each.”

Rashmi Sharma’s Saath Nibhaana Saathiya ruled the roost on Star Plus with its central character of Gopi <em>Bahu</em>, played by Giaa Maanek becoming a house hold name. The show suffered a setback when Giaa had to be replaced due to unavoidable circumstances, following which Devoleena Bhattacharjee got to play the coveted role. It was a known fact that Devoleena was entering fierce waters and had to make a name for herself as Gopi <em>Bahu</em>, and that too in quick time!! But now with the ratings of the show taking a dip, we could not avoid raising the question all over again!!
