Sumit Sambhal Lega (DJs A Creative Unit) on Star Plus has definitely managed to impress viewers! And the one helming it with his minute creative instances is the talented Shashant Shah.

Shashant is known for directing Dasvadaniya, Challo Dilli, and many more TV series and films. Having directed the initial 30 episodes of SSL spoke to us about the show.

“I love the original series Every Body Loves Raymond, and when the offer came my way, I was more than happy. Since the creative guy Steve from the show assisted us in every step, it actually became quite easy to get the feel. The nuances have been kept the same but added with more humour. There has been a team of writer who worked on the script and thus each one has added their own flavour to it, making it a beautiful show,” said Shashant.

Adding to that he said, “Each writer has worked on different episode, so each one has a different feel making it more interesting. And post my 30 episodes; I got a chance to check the edits, work on the post production, making the product polish further. And the other two directors then worked on the series.”

With Deven Bhojani and Param Sethi taking over from him, we wondered if the feel would be lost somewhere. “See the core DNA remains the same, whichever directors takes the project. But since we worked through various workshops and discussed it so minutely that each of us knew how to shape it. Yes, every one of us have added our touch and I think that made it all the more special,” Shashant said.

Finally when we asked him what plans he has ahead, the director said, “There is nothing particular that has been planned but I enjoy my work and am sure will take up something soon.”
