It’s a very important day for every Indian! We got freedom on this date (15th August) in the year 1947. And today, we are celebrating 70th Independence Day of India.

But should we just celebrate the day or also take oaths to be a better person so that eventually we get a better country?

Well, some of our actors have taken patriotic oath this Independence Day. Read to know what they have shared with Tellychakkar.com.

Diya Mukherjee: I love my country and I love to be termed as an Indian. Respecting all the freedom fighters, I would like to spread love and help my friends, relatives and parents. I feel we Indians are helpful and we don’t mind helping outsiders as well at the time of need. So, it will give me immense pleasure if I really get to the opportunity to help people all around the world.

Mishmee Das: Our country is in a very bad state right now. Even after so many years of independence I don’t think the country is really independent. A country which cannot ensure safety for women shouldn’t call itself independent. If I have to take an oath, it will be not celebrating Independence Day until the government takes measures to ensure safety for everyone.

Somraj Maity: I take an oath to utilize my platform in a more meaningful way. Despite having the right to information act, there are myriad people in our society who do not have the access to information. As a media person, I think I have that access. Also, I believe that since audience get to see me regularly on television so, out of ten people, at least three will take me seriously. So, through my platform, my work, I want to disseminate information on varied important matters.

Ankita Majumder: I take an oath to be more disciplined in life. I will make sure that I follow the rules and regulations of society and value our culture and traditions. And I want people to respect one another. I wish that crimes and corruption get eliminated from our country.

Rehaan Roy: On this Independence Day, I want to take a step to make my country clean. It’s a small step to keep my surrounding clean. I promise not to throw things here and there at all and keep my city clean and make my country a better and a cleaner one.
