On International Dance Day, Tellychakkar.com got in touch with some of the best dancers from the TV industry to find out how important dancing is to them...and why they like to move it, move it!
Here’s what they had to say!
Mouni Roy
How air, food, water are important aspects to survive, the same way, dance is my fundamental need to stay alive. My remedy to stay happy is to dance. Dancing has helped me professionally and personally. It has reduced my stage fright, while also making me a better actor.
Salman Yusuff Khan
There are very few people who get to do what they love the most and I am one of those lucky ones. Whatever I am today is all because of dance. For me, dance is a never ending process. Due to my busy schedule and choreography assignments, I miss my learning phase. I believe dance is like wine, it matures with every performance.
Shakti Mohan
Dance is the most important thing in my life. I have been dancing ever since I was a kid, when it was just a hobby. Thanks to Terence (Lewis) sir and my sister Neeti Mohan, it is my career today. Dance has given me everything that I have today. Opportunities, recognition and love from the audience. My favourite dance forms are contemporary, waacking and ballet.
Rithvik Dhanjani
Dance for me is a way of expressing who I really am. It makes me forget everything around me and just be myself while dancing. I dance to get high as it makes me live every moment like a dream and enjoy it to the fullest. Dance has changed my life in various ways. It has helped me in my career and has given me the right stage. I love hiphop and street jazz the most. But when I am with friends, I love to groove to typical Bollywood tadke wale songs.
Sanjeeda Sheikh
Dance is the hidden language of the soul. It's equal to life for me. I feel happy when I dance. My life’s highlight has been winning Nach Baliye. The show has helped me a lot and that’s why dance holds a very important place in my life. My all time favourite dance form is Indian contemporary.
Kunwar Amar
Dance is the most important factor in my life. Whatever I am today is because of dance. A small town boy who had nothing with him is now a well-known actor. It has given me fame, money and recognition. I feel proud when people choose their career in dance.
