Popular TV celebs choose their favourite old song

The world of music is fascinating. The harmonic palette filled with diverse colors of emotions, cascades into our hearts and evokes memories which are etched forever.

Songs, specially the nostalgic old ones, are source of inspiration, consolation and of course, entertainment.

The melodious renditions of Kishore, Rafi and Lata, often termed as the golden era, act as a balm to our achy senses.

Every song has a story. It interacts and intertwines with the memories and experiences of a listener, making it extremely personal. People relate to songs and claim them to be their own.

For us, a good song is a perfect semblance of melody and lyric, evoking emotions, so beautifully arranged that when sung, give equal pleasure to a seasoned vocalist or a bathroom singer (chuckle).

A song transcends all barriers, bringing people together.

Capturing similar moods and intoxicating ambience of the ‘old is gold’ era is Sony MIX’s intriguing show Raina Beeti Jaye- Jashn. A programming masterpiece, the show is an ode to all our favourite things about the era gone by.

It’s a must watch for all. And guess what? Even your favourite TV celebs love old heart-rending numbers.  And we, at Tellychakkar.com, asked them to share their favourite old song. Here you go:

Divyanka Tripathi (Yeh Hai Mohabbatein fame)

My favourite old song is Man Kyun Behka Re Behka Aadhi Raat Ko sung by legendary sisters Lata ji and Asha ji. It immediately takes me back to my school days when I first learnt this song for some family Gazal night. Since then this song calms me down, the melody leaves me with a curve on my lips.

Deepak Wadhwa (Gangaa fame)

Old songs bring in lot of memories. My all time favourite is Pal Pal Dil Ke Pass (Kishore Kumar). It’s beautiful and very soothing.

Devoleena Bhattacharjee (Saath Nibhana Saathiya fame)

Old song...let me think...my all time favourite is Aap Ki Nazron Ne Samjha by Lata Mangeshkar. I like all the old songs because of depth and meaning. Aap Ki Nazron refreshes me after a tired day.

Ragini Khanna (Sasural Genda Phool fame)

Well, my choice would be Meri Jaan Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho by Geeta Dutt. No specific reason, but I love the song. It’s very close to me.

Sangram Singh (Bigg Boss fame)

There are many songs but the one that always clings to my heart is Ruk Jaana Nahin O Rahi O Rahi by Kishore Kumar. The song is very motivational and fills my heart with lot of positivity.

Asmita Sood (Badtameez Dil fame)

My favourite song is all time classic Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh by Lata Mangeshkar. It has a unique appeal and it brings in lot of childhood memories. Old songs are beautiful.

Gautam Rode (Saraswatichandra fame)

Old songs bring in many memories. My personal favourite is Abhi Na Jao Chhodkar sung by Mohd Rafi and Asha Bhosle. It is superbly melodious and touchy.

Karan Mehra (Yeh Rishta fame)

It’s not that old but I love the song Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jaana Sanam sung by Kumar Sanu and Lata Mangeshkar. The music is captivating and superbly romantic, always on my playlist.

Aakanksha Singh (Na Bole Tum fame)

Actually it’s a good question. My all time favourite is Lag Jaa Gale (Sadhana and Lata Mangeshkar). It’s one of the best compositions I have heard so far. It’s haunting and liberating at the same time.

Re-live the magic of old songs like your favourite stars.  Don’t miss to watch Raina Beeti Jaye- Jashn every night at 10pm on Sony MIX.
