Karbon Kopy:

It does not take a rocket scientist to understand what goes on in the lives of our saas-bahus on TV. And almost all saas-bahu sagas look the same. Only the timings differ. Lately Balaji’s Karam Apna Apna had the same story line as that which was already seen in Kahanii Ghar Ghar ki. In both the serials viewers will recall that a family member puts his wife on line in a game of gambling.
Two years back this was shown on Kahanii Ghar Ghar ki. Kamal son’s Krishna bets on his wife Gun in a game of gambling and loses. The same track was recently repeated in Karam… where Shiv’s cousin does the same. And we thought that Karbon Kopy was the name of a new serial from the Balaji stable. No Shaan in hosting VOI: Shaan has quit VOI and will not be seen in the following show Chote Ustaad, which begins on 30th November. Tellychakkar snooped around to find the raison de etre behind this very significant move. And a little birdie informed us that Shaan quit as he was unhappy with goings-on VOI. The nation has expressed shock about Shaan's decision. However, if sources are to be believed this decision was very much on the cards. Our source confirms, "Shaan was not happy with the constant squabbling of the judges. When things used to get ugly between the judges he had a real hard time cooling them. Also, he wasn't happy with the production house. Basically, he simply didn't like the way the entire show was being run. He had expressed his desire to leave mid-way through the season. But was compelled to continue till the end" While producer-director Gajendra Singh has been saying that he'll be back for the next season it seems unlikely that Shaan will return. Viewers will surely miss the affable host cum great singer Lara Dutta 's wardrobe malfunction: It was Miss Universe's small screen debut. Dressed in a yellow strappy number Lara looked like a million bucks. She was present on stage for the launch of a musical reality show of which she is a judge. She was addressing the gathering when all of a sudden the strap of her dress snapped. But a cool and composed Lara did not let this affect her. All her experineces of walking the ramp came to her rescue. She quickly held on to the snapped strap and went backstage to fix it. A source from the sets revealed, "Lara was slightly uncomfortable when photographers asked for her pictures. She rushed back stage to fix her strap and then after a minute or two she came back and posed for the shutterbugs." Lara who is a veteran by now at making stage appearances proved with her presence of mind that no such malfunction can rattle her. Ronit eliminated from JDJ2: After Mika, now it’s Ronit’s turn to bid farewell to Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. A little birdie from the sets told us that Ronit Roy has been voted out of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. After his last performance the judges were not too impressed with him. In fact judge Jeetendra told him that his dance lacked energy and Bipasha said that she was more impressed with his dance partner Nicole. Urmila too voiced a similar reaction. And this has been reflected in the audience voting. We agree that Ronit has been a good performer but it is the janta that decides. That’s the sad part about all such reality shows. Sonali Kulkarni’s fashion faux pas: More than her dancing and acting abilities it’s her bad wardrobe that is currently the talking point in tinsel town. Of late actress Sonali Kulkarni has been making public appearances as well as screen appearances looking like fashion gone totally wrong. See-through trousers, ill-fitted tops and loud sarees make us wonder what is wrong with Sonali. Her outfit at the premier party of Saawariya left nothing to imagination. One wondered if she was doing a lingerie ad that night. And now it’s her costume at this week’s performance on Jhalak Dikhhla. This time the theme of the show was rock and roll. Sonali wore a long blue dress for that episode and rightly received a lot of flak for it from the judges. Commenting on the dress Urmila Matondkar and Jeetendra said it was inappropriate for the dance number. Being true professionals they also added that the dress hampered her dance movements and also that it did not go with the rock and roll concept. An agitated and annoyed Sonali thundered, “What’s wrong with my dress?” All that we can say to her is to please hire a new fashion designer. Priceless Television: His dad was least interested in watching television and that’s the reason JD too did not watch any television as a child. “During my childhood I hardly watched television as we didn’t have one. I use to go to my neighbour’s house if I wanted to catch anything on the small screen,” he says. Ironically it is television that has made him a household name. Not only is JD a recognized face on TV he also is a well-known TV producer. And his parents until recently had not seen their son on TV. Because they still do not possess a TV set. JD’s parents who live in Mathura brought home a TV set only two months back and that too because their son insisted. “I gifted my parents with a TV set so that it would remind them of me. And as I don’t stay with them they could atleast watch me on screen. I don’t know whether this is right or wrong but I know its going to change their lives. That’s exactly what my show Remote Control is all about,” explains Mr. Majethia. Traffic woes! : Having a large part of the TV industry under one roof does have its cons. The principle among them is the vehicular traffic. Two of the most eminent television personalities of Indian television were caught in this muddle yesterday. It may be recalled that it was the day when there is a mammoth crowd at Juhu beach to celebrate Chaat Puja. And our stars and invitees were all stuck for long hours in the crazy traffic. UTV CEO Ronnie Screwala's car was motionless for near three hours. Fortunately, he did make it in time to receive his Contribution to Indian television award. But Chef Sanjeev Kapoor had no such luck. Sanjeev, who was to present an award, kept on SMSing his whereabouts. After reaching Santacruz at about 6.00 pm, Sanjeev realised that it would be impossible for him to reach at the appropriate time. Thus, he smsed again rendering his apologies for not being able to make it to the occasion and promising to be present the next year. Sa re.. ooh ah ouch! : Still a young man and a fit one too, it comes as surprise that singer and L’il Champs judge Sonu Niigaam is suffering from slip disc. While shooting for an episode, Sonu screamed in pain but one could hardly hear his cry among a very noisy crowd. There was more agony for Sonu when he tried picking up a small child. Upon realising his plight, Sonu was given the necessary breather. It takes great pains to judge little kids and our poor Sonu has just experienced it. Alexx-Sweta : One must have lost count as to how many times have Alexx O'Neil and Sweta Keswani been in the danger zone on Nach Baliye 3. The couple have been walking on a tight rope for far too long and it was only time that they slipped. If sources are to believed, Alexx and Sweta have been voted out. The public, and even the judges, have been very kind to this pair but last week's average performance didn't go down too well with the viewers. So, they decided to eliminate this jodi. Lost again!: Mreenal Deshraj aka Padmini of Dolhi Saja Ke Rakhna fame seems to be having one tough luck keeping her pockets in check....quite literally! Mreenal couldn't help but loose her purse again. Sometime back we heard that Mreenal's purse got flicked from her car. This time around her purse again got flicked and unfortunately she doesn't know where it got stolen. Mreenal says jokingly "More than the cash in my purse it is the latter which is more valuable as I always buy expensive ones. I was hoping that whosoever stole it should return it and keep the change. From hereon I have started carrying very little cash and don't feel like buying another purse because of the fear of loosing it again. Well, it's time for some shopping Mreenal.
