Congratulations on your engagement.

Thank you so much.

How did your love story begin?

We met via a matrimonial site. For both of us, there was pressure from our families to get married. Somewhere we too felt the same thing, but we had no idea that things will click in such a way. We dated for a year and felt connected in so many ways. Then, we both fell in love with each other. Our families interacted and finally we got engaged yesterday.

Tell us a bit about your better half.

Soumitra is a Bangalore-based technology entrepreneur who runs an enterprise software company named Playbook AI.

You dated for a year and now you are officially engaged. How is the feeling?

It’s a new stage of life, so of course, you feel a little nervous. I did not post anything regarding my relationship on Facebook. Until and unless I am sure, I don’t like flaunting it on social media. I have always maintained privacy. Finally, when I got engaged, I happily announced it on Facebook.

We have seen your post...you look gorgeous.

I have always dreamed of the perfect fairytale wedding. I love living in a dream world. My engagement was like a dream, like the decoration, the ceremony, and spending time with family and close friends...everything happened so peacefully.

Did you invite anyone from the industry?

No, I did not invite anyone from the industry. Actually, none of my close friends belongs to the industry. In fact, they stay out of the country and belong to different professions. They had come to my engagement ceremony, and I loved spending time with them.

When are you getting married?

The wedding date was finalized yesterday only. We are getting married on 28 January 2019.

Where will your wedding ceremony take place?

There will be four events. We well tie the knot on 28 January in Kolkata, and it will be followed by a reception. Two more reception parties will he held, one in Bangalore and another in Guwahati. There are a lot of events, and I am sure it will start on 28 January and continue until the middle of February (smiles). I have always been like this, living in a dream world. I wanted to marry the person whom I love. That’s why I had never been in a relationship before. However, we both don’t know whether to call this a love or an arranged marriage, because we had our profiles on a matrimonial site, but then, we met and fell in love with each other.

Where will you stay after marriage?

Actually, he has a flat here in Rajarhat. In addition, he has two more flats, one in Bangalore and another in Bombay. His family stays in Guwahati. So, I am myself not sure about where I will be staying after marriage.

Are you putting an end to your work post marriage?

Not at all, I will continue my work, full-fledged. Now, I am working in Bhoomikanya, and I will also take up the next project that comes my way. I am not leaving my work. He is very supportive. He is very positive and mature. I guess when I will be working, I will be in Kolkata, and the rest of the time, I will be staying in different places (laughs).

Were you always sure that you will marry someone outside of the entertainment industry?

I was always sure of that. My point was I have come here to work and I will do that only. I am very clear what I want to do in my life.

How did he react to your profession?

He has a completely different background; I am taking time to understand his work. He has no idea about my profession. He has watched and watches a lot of Bengali cinema but doesn’t know how we work. He saw on the matrimonial site that I am an actress. I don’t know how but he felt that I am a good person. I think he relies on his guesses (laughs). Actually, he did not see my photo at first. As we both were occupied with our respective professions, we did not have time to spend on the matrimonial site. So we both had our relationship managers. His relationship manager sent my profile to him. He got interested. We had a few conversations after which he was confident that I am the right person for him. We met last year during Durga Puja. He had come down from Bangalore for a day. So, this is how our journey started.

Has he watched your work?

He started watching my work after meeting with me. He does not watch TV much. He is glued to Netflix. However, after meeting with me, he started watching my work.

Professionally, you are in a good phase, and now, you have also found your life partner. Are you feeling peaceful?

Very much. Earlier, I was little scared about marriage. But now I know it’s a beautiful feeling. We both are very positive and we have lots of expectations. We are happy and excited about our new life. My would-be in-laws are worried about what I will eat before heading for shooting. They don’t want me to have food prepared by domestic help. So, now they want to shift to Kolkata from Guwahati. I feel lucky to have got a supportive family like this. God is surely blessing me.

Where are you going on your honeymoon?

Seychelles, an island in South Africa.
