"Channel [V] should pay me more!" - Lola Kutty

She wears sarees and sports a well oiled hairdo. She wears gajra in her hair and thick rimmed glasses and she is a VJ with the most happening channel in the country. Surprised? Don't be…she is the coolest VJ in town and the only makeover that you can convince her to undertake is sporting a "shorter blouse". Lola Kutty, a.k.a Channel [V]'s "beauty on duty", hosts Celebrity Forum/Lola TV— in which she plays interviewer to assorted Bollywood personalities.

Lola Kutty, a.k.a Channel [V]'s "beauty on duty", hosts Celebrity Forum/Lola TV— in which she plays interviewer to assorted Bollywood personalities. Her south Indian accent has you in splits in minutes and you wonder how she can talk with a straight face! Meet Lola Kutty, the VJ who looks like a lady dressed in all her finery going out to attend a marriage…but don't be fooled! Lola spoke to Ananya Sengupta about being a simpleton in a complex world and about being the desi VJ with a very hot sense of humour! So who is Lola Kutty? I am just an ordinary girl, you know, I don't want to do anything dramatic. Now everybody has heard about Lola, but when they meet me, they say… 'oh! Its only youuuu!' Stop putting on this accent… Yananya I talk like this all the time…do I sound weird? So how does it feel to be a behenji on a hep and happening channel? So now being modern means wearing short skirts, ya?…no no…I cannot do it. I tell you, Yananya, I can only wear shorter blouses, and that is it! You seem to be the other Jassi on television... No no...I am not Jassi, i dont have specs like her...what Jassi does is her problem, I am verrry busy So what do you do when she is not working I go out to jog and… What do you jog in… I wear sneakers…of course! Underneath my saree yaa…don't laugh…yaa, I am like that only! I go out at 6 'O clock in the morning, I don't go jogging in the evening, I might get tanned, you know the heat and all…I get a headyeach (headache!) What about your work on Channel [V]? Oh, Yananya, please tell the Channel [V] people to pay me more naa, it's high time that they pay me… more! I wear my own saree and jewellery ... What about her run-ins with the celebrities that she interviews? Milind Soman lifted me…I got a palpitation…he tried to pull off my specs…how yerrrritating! And Boman (Irani) chased me… You being a mallu.. All south Indians are not Madrasis, I say! Yananya, they should understand that there are Keralites…You know I am going to Kerala for ya (a) month long holiday… So what will you get from Kerala? Lots of Sukeyan (jaggery) and my mother will send me lots of stuff yaa.. What do you like to eat… Chinese is yummm…seafood and Thai food. Chicken shiken is so boring I say….it's stupid. So what about marriage? Yananya, my mother is very worried ya, she thinks I will marry a north Indian… What's your idea of an ideal man? Does he exist??? I really like Abhishek Bachchan…ya. But I want to marry a man who has a steady job and is sweet, no great thing I am looking for, not rich…you know. What about the romantic notion of running away from home? Now, that is a bit too much…that is only good for Mani Ratnam films…arre there is too much pressure….yaaa!
