Sourabh Raaj Jain

The handsome and talented Sourabh Raaj Jain needs no introduction, does he?

Sourabh, who started off his acting career with the youth show Remix at a young age, has now turned out to be a popular face of mythological fiction.

After his successful stints in shows Parichay, Uttaran and many more, Sourabh was offered the role of Lord Krishna in Siddharth Kumar Tewary's magnum opus Mahabharat and post that he got a lot to explore by hosting a radio show and giving voice overs.

Now the talented actor is set for his upcoming South movie Om Namo Venkatesaya. In a conversation with us, Sourabh shares about his journey in the industry, his experience exploring so many genres as an actor, his future plans and much more.

Read on:

You have recently lent your voice for Shani. Share your experience with our readers...

Yes, I have given voice-over in the initial episodes for Shani and I feel fortunate to have done it. I will always be grateful to Swastik...

Along with it, you are also hosting a show on radio. How is the medium treating you?

I will be finishing one year on radio soon and I can never thank Tarun Katial (head, BIG FM) enough for giving me this opportunity. It's been an amazing learning experience for me.

What is the update about your upcoming movie?

I don't know the exact date but it's expected to release in the initial months of 2017.

Having done TV, radio and now a movie, do you feel lucky that you have got to explore so many mediums?

Absolutely! For a performer, doing variety of things is always fulfilling and it's exactly been that for me. I want to be better in my craft and that's possible only by working on different areas. All these different platforms are helping me to become better.

Any plans of taking up a show on the small screen?

I am not in a hurry to take up anything that is coming my way. My aim is to do quality work. The moment when I am convinced that this a project in which I can put my heart and soul into, I will take that up.

You are now being known as a mytho hero and offered many similar shows. Do you miss playing a cool and romantic guy onscreen?

Just few days back I did an episodic story of poet Nirala on ABP Channel, which had nothing to do with mythology. The fact is that, yes I am approached for that genre a lot but simultaneously I do get calls for other fiction shows as well. I would love to do a romantic serial with a good storyline.

How has your journey been in the industry so far?

From where and how I started to where I am today, I can only say that it has progressed smoothly with consistent promotions.

What has been the key factor for making you what you are today?

A lot goes to the way I was brought up. Ethics, morals and self-respect have been extremely important to me. I like to work with total dedication and honesty and with all that, I have two super women in my life; my mother and my wife.

After hosting a radio show, can we expect to see you hosting TV shows as well?

I have already anchored couple of shows like Savdhaan India, Bhakton Mein Bhakti Ki Shakti and now Mahapuran. I would love to anchor many more in the future as well.

Do you aspire to debut in Bollywood?

Yes, I do...and one day I will.

What are your interests other than acting?

Reading, travelling, spending time with my Wafer (my pet dog), listening to Sufi music and playing chess.

You have a lot of female fan following, who refer to you as Madhav, Chocopie, etc. How do you and your wife Ridhima react to it?

It feels great to be called by such loving names. Both of us can never thank them enough for showering such unconditional love.

Who is your inspiration from the industry?

Triple As- Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar.

If not an actor, then you would have been?

Don't know...but surely something related to creativity and crafts.

Recently, Mahabharat was listed among the top shows of the world. How do you feel about it?

It's overwhelming to be a part of such a show which the world looks up to. The collective contribution of so many has made this possible but one person whose vision started it all is Siddharth Kumar Tewary.

Your take on projects on web or OTT platforms like VOOT, Hotstar? Would you like to associate with this alternate medium?

There is a big audience for web content and if any related project comes to me, with an interesting format, then I would love to be a part of it.

Any regrets so far?

None.

Your biggest achievement as an actor?

I am yet to achieve it.

Any message for your fans?

Guys, you make me smile and for that I will always be in gratitude. Love you all.
