Hitting the right note with Chavvi

Chavvi Mittal, who shot to instant fame with her positive act in Zee TV's Tumhari Disha is grinning from ear to ear. But this time, not for her acting skills, but for her sur and taal. Being a trained singer, she is having great time while singing Bollywood songs on Sahara One's reality show Jhoom India. In a candid chat with tellychakkar, Chavvi shares her experiences on the reality show and much more. How does it feel participating in Jhoom India, a celebrity singing reality show? It's a great experience for me as I'm singing on such a big stage after a very long time. So, I'm enjoying every bit of it. You are seen on television after a very long time. What made you take up a reality show? As a trained singer, I always wanted people to appreciate my singing. But due to certain circumstances, I couldn't take up singing as my profession. So, there was no reason for me to deny this offer. Is this is the first time you are singing on stage? No. I used to participate in singing contests during my childhood. Are you nervous? Not at all, in fact I'm very confident and taking this competition very seriously. Is singing, that too Bollywood numbers your cup of tea? It's difficult to sing Bollywood songs. But I'm trying my best and spending a lot of time at the rehearsals. You are competing with other celebrities. Any insecurities? No. I guess, it's time for them to feel insecure. Chavvi a better actress or singer? Singer. Any goof-ups while rehearsing? Plenty. But nothing serious as of now. Are you happy with your partner? Jatin ji (Jatin-Lalit fame) is a very talented and experienced music director and I'm trying to learn as much as I can from him. Overall, he is a great mentor and a teacher. However, I do feel that sometimes he behaves very rudely and also wants me to sing like a professional singer, which is not possible at this moment. Recently SRK visited the sets to promote his film OSO and he was quite impressed with your singing. What's your take on it? I was ecstatic to see King Khan sitting in front of me. Believe me, it was a life time experience for all of us. Whom do you think will give you a tough competition? Roshni is doing very well on the show. So, right now she is giving me very tough competition. Any winning strategies? Just work hard and leave the rest to God. Whom do you think should win? It's highly premature to name anyone. But may only the deserving participant win.
