"I believe in being versatile"

Kanwal Toor is the latest addition to the team of hot anchors on Zoom. She is the new host of Filmi Fever. From now on, she will be giving us the filmi dope, facts and behind the scenes reports of the forthcoming Hindi films. The fact that she’s been a Miss India finalist and a model, makes her a complete natural on screen. Kavita Shyam met up with the lady for a quick chat. Why this shift from modelling to anchoring? Well, I have been Modelling for a while now and was a finalist in the Miss India Pageant in 2001 and represented India at the Miss International Pageant in Tokyo the same year. I also have my own Fashion design label which keeps me busy. I was also into compering shows back in Delhi.I have done theatre so you could say I am into acting also in a way. So there has been no shift as such, it is all a part of my profession and I believe in being versatile. What brought you to Mumbai from Delhi? I was called for an audition by Zoom and was signed on in ten days to co-anchor Filmi Fever alternately with Parizad Kolah. So its shooting for filmi fever that brings me to Mumbai for two weeks and then its back to Delhi for the rest of the month. Do you prepare for your show in advance or do you simply go with the flow? I believe anchoring comes naturally to me and being a part of the Miss India contest taught me to be a better talker and a much more confident person.I had also been compering shows pretty often so its easy. What do you do in your spare time? My work keeps me busy and in addition to that I am fond of scuba diving, snorkeling and sky diving so basically I am into adventure sports. What next do you have up on your agenda, more of television, modelling or films? I am very much open to the idea of doing films but right now I am just three weeks old on Zoom and I have a one year contract with Zoom and it will be difficult to manage both therefore as and when I'll have offers coming in I'd be ready to venture into bollywood.
