"I can do comedy better than the other actors"

One look at her and you won't know that she is a mother of a teenage girl but Tanaz Currim is the chirpy young thing on the small screen who dabbles serials and theatre with much panache. She has been a part of the television industry for more than a decade and more so in the comic genre. So she's now ready with two new comedy serials on Zee Smile. Kavita Shyam met up with the lively and ever so fresh Tanaz Currim for a quick chat. One sees you doing more of comedy and not much of the other kind of serials on air. Why so?

She has been a part of the television industry for more than a decade and more so in the comic genre. So she's now ready with two new comedy serials on Zee Smile. Kavita Shyam met up with the lively and ever so fresh Tanaz Currim for a quick chat. One sees you doing more of comedy and not much of the other kind of serials on air. Why so? Well, I end up doing a lot of comedies but I have also done a Swabhiman, Yeh Meri Life Hai etc and films which have had no comic element in them. I try to be as much innovative as I can. Also somehow I feel justice is not done to the females in comedy however situational comedy is fun to watch and also to perform. I am an actress and I like doing challenging roles also I think I can carry out such comic roles better than the other people so I am offered such roles. I am liking the kind of roles I am getting and I think they are interesting enough. You are now doing Fooltu Pagal Hai for Zee Smile, whats ur role like and what made you take it up? It was a Ravi Rai comedy and it's a fun team to work with.I liked the role, it's a cute role and I have worked with him previously in Gopaljee. I play the main Doctor in the hospital called Dr Marry who speaks Hindi and Urdu and always says a wrong word for the correct thing. It's a little over the top and realistic comedy with juicy bits and the chemistry is very good between the characters. What are your future projects in hand right now? I am doing a stand up comedy called Comedy Ghanta for Zee Smile where I play a weather girl who has immense attitude and talks about everything but the weather. Besides this I am doing theatre and films like 36 China Town and Rangeen. What kind of a bond do you share with your teenage daughter? I am like a friend to my daughter and she respects me for that. We share almost everything about our lives with each other. I just let her make her own decisions and give her space as that's how it was between me and my mother. Even though I know its not easy for a mother to do so while she's growing up. Are you are seeing someone? No, I am not seeing anyone now.
